Most Recent ANL Data on Sales of Electric Vehicles in the United States

Overviews of vehicle sales are available from multiple resources. While you might already have one or several favorite sites, we recommend always checking with The Transportation Research Center at Argonne National Laboratory. Data published by ANL is searchable and users can zoom in and observe the sales evolutions for a certain make and model of interest. Only full-sized vehicles sold in the United States and capable of 60mph are listed.

To better understand the data, here is a list of acronyms:

  • EV: All-electric vehicle
  • PEV: Plug-in electric vehicle. These include both all-electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
  • PHEV: Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. These include any vehicle that has both an electric motor and gasoline engine, including extended-range electric vehicles.
  • LDV: Light Duty Vehicles.

Note that PEVs include both EVs and PHEVs but do not include Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, Low Speed Electric Vehicles, or two-wheeled electric vehicles.
