Have you had an Amazon package delivered in a Rivian EV yet?
The Colorado Sun reported yesterday, citing Amazon, that Denver is one of the first sixteen cities where Rivian delivery vans will be used for routine deliveries, starting during the last week of April 2021.
Amazon is committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and has contracted Rivian to produce 100,000 electric delivery vans by 2030, planning to have the first 10,000 vans operational next year. The vans share the basic battery technology with Rivian R1 pickup truck models but are said to be built on a different assembly line because of the difference in the skateboard platform supporting the battery.
The Amazon-Rivian news generated a lot of interest among EV enthusiasts, with passionate Rivian truck fans looking forward to seeing how the new vehicles will withstand the test of being implemented on delivery fleets.
The delivery range of the new vans is 150 miles and the routes have been defined according to proximity to Amazon’s distribution Center in Aurora, Colorado.
